Audacity and Windows Movie Maker. As a music teacher these two tools will be invaluable, both for me and for my students, as we record ourselves and create multimedia projects. I really enjoyed learning about and using both of these tools and will continue to do so long after this class is over.
Beyond the tools we learned about the semester, the experience of creating a WebQuest has inspired me to incorporate more projects like it with my students. Prior to this course, I had never heard of or seen a WebQuest before. When I was first asked to review some WebQuests created by other teachers, I thought they were interesting, but I wasn’t quite sure how they were going to fit in with teaching chorus. As I built my WebQuest over the course of the semester I saw how this model could be used to engage my students in a meaningful learning experience and now I can’t wait to implement what I created with my students.
I really wish that I had been able to take this course over a longer semester. I feel as though there were so many projects squeezed into such a short amount of time that I did not really get a lot a practice or experience with anything we learned about. Like I said, though, there are many things I will take away from this course and continue to use.
Through this course I learned a number of valuable skills that I will be able to use right away in my classroom and in the future as a technology coach. Throughout the semester, I learned about the principles of design and after practicing those on a smaller project was able to use them to create a WebQuest that will be used by my students when we return to school. I also got a chance to return to my web page designing roots and hand code a page. This refreshed my memory of how the html code works and reminded me how spoiled I am now to have tools like Weebly to do that work for me. The two most valuable tools I will take away from the course, however, are Beyond the tools we learned about the semester, the experience of creating a WebQuest has inspired me to incorporate more projects like it with my students.
